Assessment is the first step to understanding how we can support with occupational therapy. See the assessments described below to decide what meets your individual needs. After the assessment, your occupational therapist will discuss goals and treatment planning next steps. This could look like booking virtual parent support, clinic visits, home visits or meetings with other community services.
This assessment package includes two parts and is billed as a package. You and your child will have an initial in-person visit to discuss and observe the current challenges with eating relating to sensory, motor, attentional, or environmental concerns. This assessment package includes a follow up phone call with parent for 30 minutes to discuss impressions and develop goals/treatment plans.
This assessment package includes two parts and is billed as a package. The first appointment is an assessment visit with parent and child;/youth appointment and lasts 1 hour. The assessment focuses on your child/youth's actively participating in tasks to evaluate any of the following: pre-printing, printing, keyboarding, self-help to dress, using toys, fine, and gross motor skills. Following the initial assessment visit, your OT will schedule a follow up virtual or in-person appointment for 20 mins with the parent/guadtrian to discuss impressions, goals, and treatment plans.
This assessment includes three parts and is billed as a package. During the first part of this assessment your OT will conduct a comprehensive parent/caregiver interview to understand your concerns, areas of strength, aspects of school and home life, allowing you to describe what you've tried, what's helped and how parent education can support the growth and changes you are seeking for your child. Subsequent sessions two and three will be scheduled by your therapist at the end of the parent interview. Session two includes an in-clinic appointment that will engage your child/youth in activities and allow further assessment examining aspects of their cognitive, emotional, sensory, physical, or behavioural development. Session three your OT will discuss findings and impressions, will work with your od develop your goals and give handouts and information about the treatment plan for building skills in both you child and their parents/caregivers.
This is a holistic and dynamic assessment involving a total of four appointments. It allows your occupational therapist to talk with parents/caregivers, meet the child, collaborate with other core clinical and school team supports. We recognize that each child is unique and we want t honour you child's strength while understanding their skills and next steps to becoming their best self!
